3Ts Taree Training and Tutoring

About

I am the owner of 3Ts-Taree Training and Tutoring in Taree, located on the beautiful mid-North coast of NSW; a former English and History teacher, I’ve been tutoring students and adults since moving to the area in 2014.

Prior to that, I worked for Western Sydney University in the Schools Engagement Unit, where I coordinated and assisted with educational programs run for primary and high school students to engage them in wider forms of education on the University's campuses. I was also the coordinator and co-author of the University’s ‘Getting Down to Business – A Guide for Beginning Teachers’.

My belief in the value of education is evidenced by my own studies, including:

  • BA Communications
  • Diploma of Education (Secondary)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Certificate IV Business (Frontline Management)

During my years as a teacher I was involved in many activities that celebrated the diversity and individuality of the students. I have been involved in marking the HSC Extension History papers for four years, and I’ve co-authored four English textbooks:

  • ‘English Texts and Contexts 1’
  • ‘English Texts and Contexts 2’
  • ‘Senior English Outcomes’, and
  • ‘Make a Choice’

I believe that tutoring involves not only assisting students to improve their skills and knowledge in a given subject, but also to improve confidence and allow them to find their voice. It is important to tailor any tutoring to meet the learning styles and needs of individual students and to celebrate every success, minute or otherwise.

Watching a student reach that point where he or she no longer needs you, is both sad (to see the end of that relationship) and an honour, to have been part of their journey.
